What This Is

This is a two-piece hydraulic lift piston seal set for the Ford 3-inch lift cylinder piston. The set contains one piston O-ring seal, Ford part number 87111S95, and one anti-extrusion back-up ring, Ford part number NCA473A. Together these two parts form the complete sealing pair for the 3-inch lift piston inside the hydraulic lift (top cover) assembly that raises and lowers the three-point hitch.

How It Works

The O-ring rides in the groove on the outside of the lift piston and seals it against the cylinder bore so hydraulic pressure can push the piston and lift the hitch arms. The back-up ring sits next to the O-ring and keeps it from being forced (extruded) into the clearance gap under the high pressures the lift system generates. When either piece hardens, cracks, or wears, the hitch lifts slowly, drifts down under load, or will not hold position. Replacing both at the same time is the correct repair and restores firm, smooth lift.

Fitment

This set fits the Ford 3-inch diameter lift cylinder piston (Ford piston C5NN530B, superseding older NCA560B). That 3-inch piston is used on Ford 600, 601, 700, 701, 800, 801, 900 and 901 hundred series, Ford 2000, 2600, 3000, 3600 and 4000 four-cylinder thousand series, and the Fordson Dexta and Super Dexta. Important: this is the 3-inch set only. It does not fit the smaller 2-1/2 inch lift piston (NAA530B) used on the NAA, NAB, Jubilee, 8N, 9N and 2N, which takes a different O-ring (NAA533A) and washer (NAA473A). Because Ford revised the lift cylinder across the production run, measure your piston or confirm it is the 3-inch type before ordering.
