This intake manifold glow plug heater (also known as a cold-start or thermostart heater) mounts in the intake manifold of Ford 4-cylinder diesel engines to pre-heat incoming air for reliable cold-weather starting. Used on Ford 144, 172, and 192 cubic inch 4-cylinder diesel engines built from 1957 to 1964, two of these heater plugs fit into the intake manifold (manifold part 310659). It is a direct aftermarket replacement for Ford (New Holland) OEM part numbers D8NN9A36AA and 86550509.
