This aftermarket replacement shear pin and bow tie cotter pin set is a critical auger safety component for 2-stage and 3-stage snow blowers. The shear pin secures the auger to the drive shaft and is engineered to break under overload, protecting the gearbox and drivetrain when the auger strikes ice or debris. The bow tie cotter pin (714-04040) locks the shear pin in place. Both pins are consumed parts that should be kept on hand throughout the snow season for fast, easy field replacement.
